Tropical fish (Danio rerio) about \(\pu{4 cm}\) long, commonly used as a model organism in developmental biology.

Notes:
  1. The zebrafish has been used in studies of neurodevelopment, neuronal networks and the blood–brain barrier.
  2. The zebrafish is also used for alternative toxicity testing; multiple endpoints for developmental neurotoxicity are known.
