Animal that feeds on particles of matter in the
soil or sediment, usually the top
soil or sediment where it is filled with organic matter. Feeding takes place either by ingesting
soil or sediment or by trapping particles as they fall.
Examples: Earthworms, terebellids, and fiddler crabs.
