Definition
Effect resulting from imposed biotic or abiotic factors which alter ecosystem properties that in turn favor or disfavor an ecological component of importance (e.g., a species) and thus indirectly lead to improved or reduced fitness of that species.
Result of imposed biotic or abiotic factors allowing indigenous or new species to dominate, thereby affecting ecosystem composition.
