bulk density

https://doi.org/10.1351/goldbook.15158
Characteristic of a powder rather than of individual particles given by the mass of powder occupying a known volume.
Notes:
  1. Characteristics of importance in tablet production.
  2. The bulk density is always lower than the true density of its component particles.
  3. A powder can have only one true density, but it can have many different bulk densities, depending on how tightly the particles are packed.
