A hemeprotein which catalyses the disproportionation of dihydrogen peroxide to $\ce{O2}$, and water; it also catalyses the oxidation of other compounds, such as ethanol, by dihydrogen peroxide.
Note: A non-hemeprotein containing a dinuclear managanese @CT06769@ with catalase activity is often called pseudocatalase.
