nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-containing protein-like receptor

initialism: NLR
synonym: NOD-like receptor protein (NLRP)
https://doi.org/10.1351/goldbook.13520
Cytosolic protein that contains a central nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain, an N-terminal effector-binding domain and C-terminal leucine-rich repeats (LRRs).
Notes:
  1. NOD-like receptors have been implicated as mediators of protective immune responses against intracellular pathogens.
  2. Genetic associations of polymorphisms in NOD-like receptor genes with complex chronic inflammatory barrier diseases, such as Crohn disease and asthma, and with rare auto-inflammatory syndromes including familial cold urticaria, Muckle–Wells syndrome and Blau syndrome have been described.
